How close are we to eradicating HIV? – Philip A. Chan

Can we end HIV? Find out how medications like PrEP are helping to prevent the transmission and spread of HIV, and possibly leading to its eradication.

The world is getting closer to achieving one of the most important public health goals of our time: eradicating HIV. And to do this, we won’t even have to cure the disease. We simply have to stop HIV from being transmitted until eventually it fizzles out. Philip A. Chan explores the preventive strategies helping us tackle HIV and the possibility of ending the epidemic.

  • There's a cure for every disease. However, the money is in the treatment…steady cash flow. However, if you got the money to pay the premium…you can get your hands on the cure. Gotta pay to play. That's what Magic Johnson did.

  • I don't need to see the video, I know the answer. Nuke California. And put the rest in Camps. Close the boarders and cut international aid for a 100 years. problem solved.

  • Huge Announcement:

People with HIV, Don't Loose Hope, For Scientists across the world are working hard and tirelessly in making a cure, like what happened almost 2 months ago where Scientists managed to cure the virus in mice and are now rushing in making a cure for humans, and in China where the CCDC is now conducting a trial on a new serum that would permanently cure HIV and AIDS, and Johnson and Johnson is doing the same thing as well, So Don't Loose Hope, maybe In A few Years there will be a permanent cure, so for now, continue drinking your ARV drugs

  • Awesome video I take PrEP even though I'm not active because i know I'm helping eliminate HIV for future generations! My insurance covers it all

  • And for those who are trying to relate LGBT community and HIV please grow up. I know that there are people, in whose mind this thought would be running.

  • I'm just wondering, and been considering to use PrEP for awhile now. but my concern is will there any side effects of the drug in the future?

  • Pretty much being promiscuous is the cause. I recommend to do it only with husband/wife. If everybody would control themselves and not cheat God would not give it to you.

  • I kind of disagree with the video… In theory, sure we can eradicate the virus but in reality? I think it will be too hard to make it vanish. Yeah we can greatly reduce the infected but not fully exterminate the virus. First of all, drugs dont have 100%effection. Secondly, we re humans, we have different bodies and sometimes we forget to take our medication ( in many circumstances, not only Hiv drugs). There also other factors that can make the person transmit the virus even when on drugs. For instance, someone mb be ill and the virus spread further…. I dont try to be pessimistic but realistic.

  • U say they are closer to doing that but them pills are so expensive in the USA and way cheaper in other countries so how will they eradicate it in the usa
