The Apple #AirPods are one of the most popular truly wireless earbud options on the market. With a W1 chip that seamlessly sinks to Apple products, it’s pretty easy to see why these earbuds are a go-to option for a lot of the population.

These earbuds are fantastic for day-to-day wear, but at BarBend, we wanted to ask the question that most aligns with our goals + audience: can you work out with Apple AirPods?

After all, some athletes want a nice pair of earbuds that can work for both daily use and working out without having to invest in two pairs, so let’s cut to the chase.

Overall, these earbuds are solid on a daily basis and for taking calls, but in the gym they unfortunately fall short. Honestly, this didn’t really hit us as a surprise, as they’re not exactly designed to be optimized for #training.

Granted, we feel that the AirPod Pros will be much better for training, but we’ll save that for another review.

If you’re interested in investing in a pair of AirPods, you can certainly use them in the gym, but remember that they’re definitely not the most secure, water resistant, or loud, which could be dealbreakers for some.

  • I love my AirPods for working out. Yes, not as loud as I would like (although a good thing for my hearing longevity). I train crossfit/ functional fitness and they have never fallen out from high intensity work, not even double unders, burpees, cleans, KB work, running, jumping etc. They’ve fallen out twice in 3 years of use: 1: KB ATW; 2: taking off a weighted vest. Both times I knocked them out accidentally. I couldn’t live without them.
