Sony X950G 4K HDR TV – Hands-On Review

The Sony X950G is the best 4K TV the brand makes now that the Z9 Master Series is busy covering Sony’s 8K ambitions. That being the case, the X950G has some big shoes to fill as a 4K flagship TV. With Sony’s X1 Ultimate processor, the chances that we’ll get excellent picture quality from the X950G are very good, but with the larger 75- and 85-inch models sporting Sony’s X-Wide Angle tech, how will black levels look? We dig into a 75-inch X950G for this review focused on picture quality.

  1. I purchased the X850G, and to be honest, I'm not all that enthused with it. The colors are very nice once you dial them in, but motion blur is very present during some video content. How does this stack up with the 950? Will it perform better as far as motion blurring is concerned?

  2. Fantastic review, I just bought the 55" X950G and the colors are spectacular. The feel of the remote is excellent as well, very happy with it!

  3. can you tell me some good dark room TVs with more local dimming zones? you mentioned this in the video but didnt tell us the TVs ( excluding OLED)

  4. After seeing this video, I subscribed immediately. We want your opinion about Audio experience comparison between Samsung QlED Q70R and Sony X9dG about built-in sound experience. Or plz make for us a video as a review on the best smart tv sound experience.

  5. My 75" x900f died and best buy upgraded me this TV today as it's on sale for labor day even exchange. It's coming in Sunday and I'm very excited. Built in Dolby Atmos and all 4 HDMI ports are full bandwidth vs only 2 on 900f. even better gaming with lower latency too. Brighter hdr nits too but yeah the black levels are a little grey. Rtings has a great review too. Can't wait!

  6. I purchased the Samsung Q80 75 4K. I watch 80% sports and I am very unhappy about the refresh rate with this TV as watching golf and football is very challenging with the fluttering that you see in the picture with fast-moving athletes or balls. I am considering returning for the 950G, 75 inch. The negative I have heard about the Sony is the blooming. Do you think this is a good decision for me and what I watch TV mostly for?

  7. Thank you for another great review! On other reviews, they showed light bleed into top and bottom black bars. They did have verbiage stating that the exposure was adjusted to show the effect more but I’m wondering how bad it is in actual viewing. Did you experience this? What are your thoughts on it?

  8. "It's Android TV based and it's way better than it was in the past thanks to Sony developing a chip that can handle the smart tv interface."
    Cries in X900E

  9. How does this compare to the X850G? I am torn between a 65 inches LGC9 and a 85 inches X850G, since those are the best ones available in my country.

  10. Great video but I look at the 950g as a re-boxed 900f save for a few tweaks here and there by Sony for the 950g. Also I am not impressed by its black levels at all. So I'll stick with my still excellent x900e. But again yet another great video.

  11. Can anyone help me callibrate my 2012 samsung smart 3d tv? It has a good anti glare film which helps with the hlack levels. Im not ready to through it away just yet as i need it for gaming.
